Pippa and Leoni’s wedding at The River Barn in Poulton-le-Fylde was a brilliant day and one that was right up my street when it comes to wedding photography. Relaxed, informal and full of plenty of moments worth photographing.
As a The River Barn wedding photographer, I’m always looking for the bits of the day that happen naturally rather than turning the whole thing into a photoshoot. The River Barn works really well for that. There are plenty of different spaces around the venue, so there’s always something going on and plenty of opportunities to capture the day as it actually happens.
Pippa and Leoni’s wedding was full of laughs, family, friends and all the little moments that make a wedding day what it is. I spent most of the day moving around in the background, photographing everything from the preparations and ceremony through to the celebrations afterwards.
Of course, we made time for a few group photographs and some portraits of Pippa and Leoni, but without disappearing for hours. I want couples to actually enjoy their wedding rather than spending half of it standing in front of my camera.

The River Barn in Poulton-le-Fylde is a great Lancashire wedding venue for couples looking for something relaxed and informal. The mix of indoor and outdoor spaces gives you plenty of options for photographs throughout the day, whatever the weather decides to do.
It also makes a great location for natural wedding photography in Lancashire, with Blackpool, Lytham, Preston and Lancaster all within easy reach.
For me, photographing a wedding at The River Barn isn't about ticking off a list of standard photographs. It's about capturing the people, the atmosphere and the things that actually happened — so when you look back through your photographs, they feel like your wedding rather than a styled photoshoot.
