Laura & Sam's Lancrigg Wedding | Lake District Wedding Photographer
This one has been a long time coming.
Laura & Sam actually booked me two years ago while they were living in New Zealand, on the other side of the world. Since then we've kept in touch, chatting about the wedding and their plans as the big day got closer.
So when I finally arrived at Lancrigg in the Lake District to photograph their wedding, it was really nice to see everything we'd talked about finally come together.
There was also a nice little connection to photography, as Laura's dad is an award-winning photographer himself. So it was a bit of a privilege to be the one behind the camera for this one, particularly after knowing about the wedding for the last couple of years.
Laura & Sam's Lancrigg wedding
Lancrigg is a brilliant place for a wedding.
Tucked away near Grasmere, you've got the house, gardens, woodland and surrounding Lake District landscape all right there. It's one of those venues where you can spend the whole day without running out of places to photograph.
But ultimately, it's the people that make a wedding.
After keeping in touch with Laura and Sam for two years, it was great to finally meet everyone properly and see all the people we'd heard about become part of the day.
There was plenty of laughter, plenty going on and, thankfully, absolutely no shortage of things to photograph.
From New Zealand to the Lake District
It's funny how early some wedding relationships can start.
When Laura and Sam booked me, their wedding was still a long way off. They were living in New Zealand and there was a whole lot of life to happen before we'd actually get to the day.
Two years later, we finally got there.
Rather than meeting a couple for the first time shortly before their wedding, we'd already had two years of conversations and planning behind us. It made finally getting to photograph the wedding feel even more special.
Photographing a wedding at Lancrigg
The setting at Lancrigg made my job fairly easy.
There's loads of character around the venue, with the gardens and woodland giving us plenty of options throughout the day. Then you've got the Lake District sitting behind everything, which obviously isn't a bad backdrop.
We made the most of it without turning the day into a photoshoot.
A bit of time for photographs of the two of them, then straight back to their guests. The rest of the day was simply about being there, watching what was happening and making sure I didn't miss it.
And there was plenty happening.
The reactions, the laughs, the conversations and all the little moments between the bigger parts of the day.
Those are the photographs that make a wedding gallery feel like your wedding.
Lancrigg wedding photography in Grasmere
If you've found this while looking for a Lancrigg wedding photographer, hopefully the photographs below give you a good idea of what a wedding at the venue actually looks like when it's full of people and the day is properly underway.
Lancrigg is a fantastic setting for Lake District wedding photography, particularly if you want somewhere with plenty of character, beautiful grounds and the scenery of the Lakes right on the doorstep.
I'm based in Lancashire and regularly photograph weddings across Cumbria, the Lake District and the wider North West, including Grasmere, Windermere and Ambleside.
But this one will always be a little bit different.
Two years after that first enquiry from the other side of the world, I finally got to photograph Laura and Sam's wedding.
I'm very glad I did.
