Molly & Nathan’s Bartle Hall Wedding in Lancashire
Molly and Nathan’s wedding at Bartle Hall was a brilliant day from start to finish, with everything I love about photographing weddings — plenty of laughs, lots of genuine moments and a couple who were completely relaxed in front of the camera.
Bartle Hall is one of those Lancashire wedding venues that gives you loads to work with. Set in the countryside near Preston, the venue has a great mix of character, beautiful grounds and plenty of space for the day to naturally move from one part to the next.
My approach to weddings is always about keeping things relaxed and letting the day happen. I want to photograph the big moments, but also all the little things happening around them — the reactions, the laughter, the people and the moments that probably weren't noticed at the time.
A Bartle Hall wedding
There was plenty of that throughout Molly and Nathan’s wedding. From the preparations and ceremony through to the drinks, photographs and evening celebrations, the day had a really natural feel to it.
We also made the most of the grounds at Bartle Hall for some photographs of the two of them. I always think it's worth taking a little bit of time away from everything to get some photographs of the couple together, but without turning it into a long photoshoot.
That's particularly important to me as a wedding photographer. Your wedding day isn't a photoshoot with a wedding happening around it — the photography should fit around the day.
Bartle Hall works particularly well for this, with plenty of different areas around the venue and grounds to create some variety without having to disappear for ages.
