Emily & Matt’s Lancrigg Wedding in Grasmere
Emily and Matt got married outdoors at The Lancrigg, just above Grasmere in the Lake District with incredible views across Easedale Valley behind them.
Their outdoor wedding ceremony took place in the grounds of Lancrigg, surrounded by the fells and woodland that make this part of the Lake District such a brilliant place to get married. The weather was kind to them too, which meant everyone could make the most of being outside.
After the ceremony, there was plenty of time to enjoy the grounds, have a drink and catch up with friends and family before the rest of the celebrations got underway. It was a relaxed day, with a really nice atmosphere and plenty happening without everything feeling too formal.
A wedding at Lancrigg
Lancrigg is a great place for a Grasmere wedding. The grounds give you plenty of variety, from the gardens and woodland to the open views across the surrounding landscape. Then there's Easedale Valley, which makes a pretty spectacular backdrop when you're standing outside for your ceremony.
For me, photographing a wedding at Lancrigg is about making the most of all of that without taking over the day. I like photographs that show what the day actually felt like — the people, the atmosphere, the small moments and everything happening around you.
Emily and Matt's day had plenty of those moments. Friends and family catching up, people laughing, reactions during the ceremony and all the little bits that happen when everyone you care about is together.
And, of course, there was the Lake District.
Having Easedale Valley behind Emily and Matt as they got married gave the photographs a real sense of place. It's one of those settings where you don't need to add much. The landscape speaks for itself.
Lancrigg wedding photography
As a Lancrigg wedding photographer, I love how much the location gives you to work with while still allowing the day to feel relaxed. There's no need for the photographs to take over. The best ones often come from simply being there, paying attention and letting things happen.
Emily and Matt's wedding was a brilliant example of that — an outdoor wedding in the Lake District, surrounded by friends and family, with Grasmere and Easedale Valley providing the backdrop.
All in all it’s a pretty good place to get married!
